Meeting of National Commissions for UNESCO starts in Astana

It brings together reps of the National Commissions from 125 countries. They represent all five regional UNESCO groups that unite the Arab States, the countries of Africa, the Asia and Pacific Region, Europe, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. This meeting aims to build capacities, enhance networking and promote best practices of National Commissions. The main themes chosen by the National Commissions are: Interface and cooperation between UNESCO field offices and National Commissions; Raising UNESCO's visibility at country level; Methodologies for portraying the wider value of UNESCO in Member States; Contribution of the Participation Programme to the National Commissions' activities.
