Masoud Pezeshkian: Iran to keep peace path if U.S. creates trust
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran will continue pursuing the path of peace under the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States, provided Washington helps create an atmosphere of trust, Qazinform News Agency cites Xinhua.
Pezeshkian emphasized Iran is committed to the MoU but insists progress depends on U.S. trust-building.
“Now is the best time to reach an agreement, as there is solidarity, power and unity in the country,” he said.
Iran will match its commitments to the level of U.S. compliance, stressing reciprocity.
If force is used, Iran will not acquiesce, with final decisions guided by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
In June, Iran and the U.S. signed an MoU aimed at ending conflict across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.
Negotiations were scheduled within 60 days to reach a final agreement, but regional escalation has cast uncertainty over the talks.
