KCELL lost KZT 25 mln
ALMATY. August 13. KAZINFORM In Almaty the management of «KCELL» JSC applied to the the Office of Criminal Police Department of Internal Affairs of the city with the statement that unidentified people were stealing GSM traffic from the company through the electronic device called SIM-BOX, reports the press service of the Internal Affairs of Almaty.
It has been found that the device has IMEI code, which intentionally on a daily basis is being synchronized for the apparatus not to be detected.
As a result of the special events conducted by the officers of the Internal Affairs Department the addresses of apartments have been identified with the SIM-BOX equipment inside.
At the end there took place an arrest of an Almaty habitant, born in 1986, who assembled the technique in two rented apartments. In his words, he was doing some work for money, and Internet traffic was going to Russia. Investigators have suggested that traffic from Russia went abroad.
Currently there are investigation and search operations in order to identify all people involved in committing that crime.
Criminal case has been initiated under Art. 175 Part 3 of the Criminal Code "theft on a large scale", and that means for a convicted 3-7 years' sentence with confiscation.
