Kazakhstan’s e-commerce market reaches 3.7 trillion tenge in 2025
Kazakhstan’s e-commerce market size has grown by more than 50 percent over the past three years, reaching 3.7 trillion tenge in 2025, with marketplaces accounting for 86 percent of the country’s retail online sales, the country’s Ministry of Trade and Integration said, Qazinform News Agency reports.
The market expanded from 2.4 trillion tenge in 2023 to 3.7 trillion tenge in 2025. Over the same period, the share of online sales in total retail trade increased from 12.7 percent to 14.3 percent.
Marketplaces have emerged as the dominant channel for online shopping in Kazakhstan. Major platforms include Kaspi.kz, Ozon, Wildberries, Halyk Market and Forte Market.
Consumer preferences are also changing. In 2025, phones and gadgets represented the largest share of marketplace sales at 17.1 percent. Clothing, footwear and sporting goods accounted for 12.4 percent, followed by home and garden products at 12.1 percent and household appliances at 10.3 percent. Food products made up another 7.4 percent of marketplace sales.
The expansion of e-commerce has also driven the development of delivery services. For some product categories, express delivery times have fallen to less than one hour. The e-grocery segment, covering the delivery of food and everyday consumer goods, is also expanding.
In 2025, five dark-store projects were launched in Astana, Almaty, Karaganda and Aktobe. Marketplaces also installed 2,300 new parcel lockers to facilitate order collection.
The ministry highlighted that e-commerce is becoming an important part of Kazakhstan’s retail market, reshaping consumer habits while giving businesses greater access to customers across the country.
Earlier, Qazinform reported EAEU e-commerce had reached 110 billion US dollars and that national currency settlements had hit 93%.
