Kazakhstan’s construction market grows by 13.4%

The volume of construction work in Kazakhstan reached 2.41 trillion tenge in January–May 2026, marking a 13.4% increase compared to the same period last year, Qazinform News Agency cites the National Statistics Bureau.

The private sector accounts for 87.9% of total work, while foreign companies constitute 11.4% and the state sector 0.7%.

The largest share of construction work falls on infrastructure projects, including roads, railways, and metro, up to 26.3%.

Then comes construction of non-residential buildings up to 20.4% and residential construction up to 11.9%.

Facilities construction and repair grew by 41.2%.

The positive dynamics were seen in 19 regions of Kazakhstan. The most growth by 3.2 times was recorded in Ulytau region.

Significant growth was also reported in Shymkent, Almaty, Kyzylorda, and Zhambyl regions.

7.88 million cubic meters of property were commissioned during the period under review, including 6.29 million cubic meters of housing, 4.5% up.

Private developers delivered 96.8% of new housing.

New schools, kindergartens, and medical facilities were also commissioned, complementing the overall rise in construction activity.

Notably, active construction of the Balkhash Nuclear Power Plant to begin in 2027.
