Yerbol Zhailauov, a Kazakhstani working in Dushanbe, told Qazinform that he had followed the election campaign closely.

"I liked the new election format. There are very interesting, bright candidates. The parties have excellent and constructive programs. Faith in the new, in positive change, and confidence in my children's future brought me here today to fulfill my civic duty," said Yerbol Zhailauov.

Daniyar Alkhanov, who is visiting Tajikistan with his wife on a tourist trip, decided not to miss this important event.

"I have a proactive attitude and always participate in the country's political life. These elections are a landmark milestone in Kazakhstan's institutional modernization. Today I came to vote with my wife. It is important that every Kazakhstani, regardless of location, has the opportunity to make their choice," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that citizens of Kazakhstan residing in Moscow are turning out in large numbers to vote at polling station No. 429, located at the Kazakh Embassy.

Kazakhstan's first-ever elections for deputies of the country's new unicameral Qurultay began on August 23. Polling stations opened across the country, with voting set to continue until 8:00 p.m.

Kazakhstanis are voting for one of seven political parties participating in the elections. Following the vote, seats in the Qurultay will be distributed among the parties that surpass the legally established threshold.
