Kazakhstan women’s rugby team claims silver at Asian Championships in Almaty
Team Kazakhstan pocketed silver medals at the 2026 Asia Rugby Emirates Women's Championships in the 15-a-side format, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan.
In the match for second place, the Kazakh team drew 26–26 with Hong Kong. Based on additional criteria, Kazakhstan secured second place in the tournament standings.
Japan clinched the championship title ahead of schedule after defeating Kazakhstan 64–12 and Hong Kong 72–12.
As noted by the Ministry, Kazakhstan’s women’s national team delivered a strong performance at the home Asian Championship and once again proved itself to be one of the continent’s leading teams. The achievement also reflects the rapid development of women’s rugby in the country.
Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that Elena Rybakina had advanced to the WTA-1000 Internazionali BNL d’Italia Round of 16.
