Kazakhstan to build major cheese plant
Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov and CEO of Iran’s Solico Group Gholam Ali Soleimani signed an investment agreement on the construction of a large-scale advanced milk processing facility, Qazinform News Agency cites the Ministry’s press service.
The signing of the agreement is another step in the development of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Iran. It builds on commitments made under the Framework Agreement on Cooperation, which was concluded in December 2025 during the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kazakhstan.
The cheese production plant with a capacity of 155,000 tons of cheese annually will be built in Almaty region. 35.2 billion tenge will be invested in the project.
Its construction is already underway with commissioning set for 2029.
Minister Saparov emphasized attracting strategic investors to boost agro-processing of agricultural products remains one of the key directions of the country’s state policy in the agro-industrial complex.
As part of the project, at least 400 permanent jobs will be generated, with training programs for Kazakh specialists and transfer of modern production technologies.
Between 2028 and 2038, Solico Group will allocate some 50 million tenge annually to support local communities and to develop social initiatives.
The plant will become one of the largest milk processing projects in Kazakhstan that will contribute to the development of the raw material base, increase demand for domestic milk, expand products, and strengthen the country’s food security.
To note, Kazakhstan will launch gelatin and bioactive bone matrix plant.
