Kazakhstan submits bid on acquisition of observer status in the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Iogan Merkel participated at the conference on theme "The organisational statute of public prosecutors in Europe and the relationship with the investigatory agencies" and at the 9th meeting of the Consultative Council of European prosecutors (CCPE).
The meeting was opened by the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors Mr. Antonio Mura, the Prosecutor General at the Italian Supreme Court Mr. Gianfranco Ciani and the Vice-President of the CSM Mr. Giovanni Legnini. The issues on strengthening the role of prosecutors in ensuring the rule of law, improving the efficiency of interaction between supervisory authorities in the fight against transnational crime, and other pressing challenges and threats of the contemporary world were discussed at the forum, according to the press release of the Prosecutor General's Office. While speaking from the rostrum of the forum, the First Deputy Prosecutor General Kazakhstan the First Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan emphasized the importance of dialogue of the CCPE to deepen international cooperation, joint combating transnational crime. At the same time he handed an application to the head of the CCPE on acquisition of observer status in this organization. According to the general opinion of the participants, the relevance of discussing the issues on the agenda is due to the overall strategic objectives to ensure the international and regional security, consolidation of supervisory authorities of different countries to protect the interests of society and state. The meeting adopted the Opinion where participants confirmed their readiness to further expand cooperation in order to ensure international and regional security. During the visit, Mr. I. Merkel held bilateral meetings with the heads of the General Prosecutor's offices of Italy, Germany, Russia, Hungary, Serbia, Slovakia, Monaco, Moldova, Ukraine, Turkey, as well as international organizations such as the international Association of prosecutors and the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors. The Consultative Council of European Prosecutors is a consultative authority of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which unites more than 40 member states of the Council of Europe and 5 states with observer status. The CCPE promotes the rule of law, respect for human rights, the implementation of legal reforms, strengthening international cooperation in combating transnational crime.
