The restrictions are designed to protect children’s health and reduce the risk of injuries at a young age.

According to the Ministry, over 5.1 million children and teens aged 4–17 in Kazakhstan regularly engage in sports.

Thereat, competitions, as part of training, involve significant physical and emotional stress, which prompted the Ministry to set age limits in July 2025.

The age thresholds were developed with input from sports federations, agreed upon with the Ministry of Health, and aligned with international standards.

Importantly, these rules apply only to competitions and do not affect children’s admission to sports schools, clubs, or training programs.

It is worth reminding that over 18,000 children in Astana played assyk for National Sports Day.
