Kazakhstan sees cooperation with UNESCO as a priority - Minister

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The closing ceremony of the First Interregional meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO was held in Astana today.

"UNESCO is one of the leading structures in the UN family, based on the principles of solidarity through education, science and culture. Kazakhstan has always considered cooperation with such an authoritative international institute as one of priorities," Minister of Culture Arystanbek Mukhamediuly noted at the ceremony. "Overall objective of all national commissions is to build peace through the development of education, science, culture, communications and prosperity of our countries," the minister added. The First Interregional meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO was held in Astana on July 22-24. It was attended by heads and members of 125 member states' national commissions representing all five regional groups of UNESCO (Arab states, Africa, Asia and Pacific, Europe and North America, Latin America and Caribbean).
