Kazakhstan ranks 58th in Global Firepower military strength rankings

Kazakhstan has maintained its position in the annual Global Firepower military strength rankings, taking 58th place out of 145 countries worldwide in 2026. Kazakhstan has the highest military spending per capita among Central Asian nations, Qazinform News Agency reports.

ccording to 2026 Global Firepower data, Kazakhstan’s Power Index (PwrIndx) stands at 1.0433. The closer the score is to zero, the stronger the country’s military potential is considered.

United States with PwrIndx of 0.0741, Russia with 0.0791 and China with 0.0919 top the rankings.

India (0.1346), South Korea (0.1642), France (0.1798), Japan (0.1876), Turkiye (0.1975), Italy (0.2211), and Brazil (0.2374) are also in the top 10.

At the bottom of the list are Liberia (3.9275), Suriname (4.0538), the Central African Republic (4.2381), Belize (4.3602), and Bhutan (5.7991).

Kazakhstan’s defense budget amounts to 5.836 billion US dollars, which translates to about 284 US dollars per person annually , the highest figure in Central Asia.

For comparison, Turkmenistan's military spending stands at 209 US dollars per person, Uzbekistan —162 US dollars per person, Kyrgyzstan — 88 US dollars per person, Tajikistan — 42 US dolkars per person.

The Global Firepower ranking takes into account more than 60 factors, including army size, financial resources, logistics, geography, equipment availability, and economic resilience.
