Kazakhstan MFA meets OTS, TURKPA observers ahead of Qurultay elections
Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Issagaliyev has met with election observation missions from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) ahead of elections for deputies to Kazakhstan’s Qurultay, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the Kazakh MFA.
During the meeting, the sides discussed preparations for the upcoming elections, their conduct and the work of international observers.
Issagaliyev briefed the missions on measures being taken to ensure the necessary conditions for the work of international observers and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to an open and transparent electoral process in line with national legislation and the country’s international obligations.
The observers outlined the main areas of their work and thanked the Kazakh side for its support in facilitating their activities.
The sides also discussed cooperation within the OTS and TURKPA frameworks and expressed interest in further strengthening their interaction.
Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Thailand, Margulan Baimukhan, met with Sittichote Intaravises, a member of Thailand’s Election Commission, to discuss the two countries’ political and electoral systems.
