Kazakhstan is the world leader of anti-nuclear movement - Ex Foreign Minister of Australia

BEIJING. July 1. KAZINFORM "Kazakhstan is the world leader in conducting global negotiations of the Anti-nuclear Weapons Movement ," Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia and former co-chairman of the International Commission on Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament Gareth Evans said in interview to Kazinform correspondent during the II World Peace Forum in Beijing.

According to him, Kazakhstan and Australia share common interest, in particular, in the sphere of nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament. "Kazakhstan is the world leader of global negotiations on issues of the Movement of non-proliferation and disarmament and continues to play the key role in it, " ex-Australian Foreign Minister noted.

"Australia and Kazakhstan should join efforts for the development of a unique strategy on further nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. In this context, I think we would cooperate fruitfully at the international scene," Gareth Evans said.

As is known, Kazakhstan and Australia enjoy all-round cooperation. The countries co-hosted the Global Initiative on Combating Nuclear Terrorism Conference in September 2010 in Astana.
