The funds were allocated for bonus payments following the 25th Summer Deaflympics held in Tokyo in 2025, with a total of 32 athletes and 42 coaches receiving awards.

“The payouts are determined in accordance with current legislation, with 130 million tenge awarded for gold, 78 million for silver, and 39 million for bronze. Athletes placing fourth to sixth received between 2.5 million and 15 million tenge,” the ministry said.

Around 3,000 athletes from 81 countries participated in the 2025 Deaflympic Games. Kazakhstani athletes represented the country in eight sports disciplines and won a total of 25 medals, including eight gold, four silver, and 13 bronze. As a result, Kazakhstan’s national team placed ninth in the overall team standings.

The ministry noted that the payments form part of a broader system of state support for sport, aimed at further developing elite athletics and strengthening Kazakhstan’s position on the international stage.

Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that the first Paralympic champion from Kazakhstan Zulfiya Gabidullina had claimed a bronze medal at the World Para Swimming Series event held in Paris, continuing to impress at the age of 60.
