Kazakh Government's proposal on creation of UN International Centre in Almaty remains relevant - N. Nazarbayev
ALMATY. April 26. KAZINFORM - important is the expansion of the railway network in and around Afghanistan, so that our country were connected highways, which is the highlight of the cooperation in the region. This was announced today in Almaty at the Third Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul process, said President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
"In my opinion, contribution to the solution of problems related to the development of Afghanistan, could be real due to possibility of Almaty. Our southern capital is geographically close to the Afghan transport hub with powerful features. Almaty is the location of the international agencies, including the United Nations system ", said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
He also said that in this connection, is still valid the offer of the Government of Kazakhstan in Almaty on creating an international center of the United Nations.
"It will aim, in particular, at the post-conflict rehabilitation of Afghanistan. Such a framework is needed for the coordination of financial and economic assistance to the country through regional and subregional offices of the UN and other international and regional organizations. This will enable efficient implementation of current programs and objectives of multilateral cooperation in the future. We offered to place the bases to support Afghanistan in Kazakhstan, " said the Head of state.
