Iran submits response to latest US proposal

Iran has formally presented to Pakistani mediators its response to the latest US proposal aimed at ending the war of aggression against the country, a source familiar with the matter confirmed on Sunday, IRNA reported.

According to the proposed plan, the current phase of negotiations is focused exclusively on the cessation of hostilities in the region, the source told IRNA.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson had previously said that Tehran’s views and considerations regarding the US proposals would be transmitted once internal reviews and final conclusions were completed.

Pakistan brokered a ceasefire between Tehran and Washington on April 8 that halted nearly 40 days of joint aggression by the US and Israel against the Islamic Republic.

Talks followed in Islamabad days later, but failed to produce a breakthrough.

Earlier, it was reported that the United States was awaiting Iran’s response to a proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, even as military tensions in the Persian Gulf continue to intensify
