Import of food products to Kazakhstan exceeded $3 bln in 2012

ALMATY. November 7. KAZINFORM Import of food products to Kazakhstan totaled $3.7 billion in 2012, First Deputy Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev said at the meeting with Almaty businessmen on Thursday.

"Import of dairy products made $633 million, vegetable oil - $121 million, sausage products - $90 million. Food products worth $2.4 billion have been imported over eight months of 2013," Mr. Sagintayev noted.

He also added that Almaty is the city where the majority of Kazakhstan's entrepreneurs reside.

"I believe there is an opportunity to step up production in the food processing industry," the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
