Flights to Almaty see 1.5x boost in bookings
A recent study conducted in Almaty analyzed tourist flows, closely examining traveler routes and preferences, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The analysis covered all stages of travel, from planning and booking to accommodation and leisure activities.
Almaty remains the leading tourist hub in Kazakhstan, accounting for 29.7% of all tourist search queries in Central Asia.
The growth is reflected in the increase in number of flights: traditional airlines expanded their routes by 24.7%, while low-cost carriers saw a 44.5% increase. The share of return visits grew by 78.6%, reaching 25%. The average ticket search time increased by 24%, now averaging 40 days, particularly ahead of major events.
Data from AlmatyTourismBureau shows that the number of passengers booking flights to Almaty has increased 1.5fold, a trend linked to the rise in available flights. Bookings from China have surged sixfold in the first half of 2024, reaching 25,200 tickets, while Türkiye leads in bookings, thanks to strong business connections between the two countries.
Tourists in Almaty favor active vacations, with 54% choosing wildlife tours and excursions, and 44% opting for jeep tours. Additionally, 70% of reviews about gastronomy, shopping, and entertainment were positive, while the share of favorable reviews for family tourism rose by 12%.
Business spending has tripled due to increased investments, international forums, and business activities.
