Elena Rybakina advances to quarterfinals with comeback win in London

Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina successfully cleared the second-round hurdle at the WTA 500 tennis tournament in the United Kingdom, Qazinform News Agency reports.

The world No. 2, seeded first at the London courts, played a tough match against Germany's Tatjana Maria (ranked 52nd in the WTA).

The match turned into a three-set drama lasting 2 hours and 12 minutes. After losing the first set in a tiebreak, Rybakina turned the match around. In the final set, the Kazakhstani player completely dominated, not allowing her opponent a single game. The final score was 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-0.

During the match, Elena Rybakina served 8 aces, made 4 double faults, and converted 5 of 13 break point opportunities.

Rybakina will take on local player Katie Boulter for a spot in the semifinals. Earlier, Boulter advanced after eliminating Romania's Jaqueline Cristian.
