Alexander Bublik reaches ATP 250 Stuttgart quarterfinals
Kazakhstan’s tennis player Alexander Bublik has advanced to the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 grass-court tournament in Stuttgart, Germany, competing in both the singles and doubles events, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.
In doubles, Alexander Bublik is partnering with Australian star Nick Kyrgios. The duo opened their campaign with a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 win over the Swiss-American pair of Jakub Paul and Ryan Seggerman in the first round.
Earlier, Kazakhstan’s world No. 11, Bublik, secured a place in the singles quarterfinals by defeating Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff, ranked No. 77 in the ATP rankings. Bublik won the three-set match 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 in 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Previously, Qazinform News Agency reported that a member of Kazakhstan’s table tennis team, Alan Kurmangaliyev, had won a gold medal at the WTT Youth Contender tournament in Sweden and had signed a contract with one of France’s most decorated clubs, GV Hennebont TT.
