EDB ranks among institutional members of World Economic Forum
ALMATY. January 22. KAZINFORM - Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (ED) Igor Finogenov is attending in the 44th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the press service of the EDB informs.
The forum themed "The Reshaping of the World: Consequences for Society, Politics and Business'' became a meeting place for more than 2.5 thousand representatives of government agencies, business elite and civil society organizations from 100 countries. On the agenda are the issues on new approaches to solving urgent problems of humanity in a rapidly changing world. In particular, there will be discussed such topics as the impact of innovation on modern life, prospects for global development, civil society participation in economic processes, planet's population growth and others.
This year EDB's chairman is taking part in the forum in its new capacity: in January the bank became an institutional member of this prestigious organization.
WEF is an international NGO that aims to develop comprehensive international cooperation. It was established in 1971 by a Swiss professor K. Schwab who remains its undisputed leader. WEF joins about 1,000 large organizations and companies with a turnover of over USD 5 billion from around the world. Headquartered in Cologny, in 2006 the foundation opened regional offices in Beijing and New York City. It strives to be impartial, and is not tied to any political, partisan or national interests.
