“Overall, the country is expected to face a water shortage, and we are already seeing signs of it now. That is why it is essential to strictly monitor the water limits approved for each region. Not a single drop of water should be allocated without the ministry’s permission,” Olzhas Bektenov said.

The Prime Minister also asked Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov about the timeline for completing the Shardara water pipeline project.

Responding to the question, the minister said the facility would be fully completed by July 1 this year, adding that the project has been fully financed.

“This is a very important issue during the growing season,” the Prime Minister stressed.

Earlier today, at the Government's meeting, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Yerlan Nyssanbayev warned that several regions of the country could face drought risks in the coming months.
