Chairman of Kazakh National Committee for safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage named
ASTANA. October 23. KAZINFORM Writer, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan and General Director of the National Academic Library Alibek Askar has been appointed the chairman of the National Committee for the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage under the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO Affairs.
It was announced at the regular session of the National Committee under the theme "Modern state of spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people, relevant problems of its safeguarding and development" held in Astana on Wednesday.
The National Committee was set up in January 2012 in order to implement the provisions of the International Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage ratified by Kazakhstan in December 2011.
