Bishkek to shut major malls, markets Aug 31- Sept 1

Shopping centers located along the routes of official delegations arriving for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and the World Nomad Games will be temporarily closed in Bishkek on August 31 and September 1, Kabar reported.

This decision was made at a meeting of the Crime Prevention Coordination Commission chaired by Bishkek Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev and Deputy Chairman of the Bishkek City Council Zhyldyzbek Abdraimov.

During these days, the following stores will be closed: GUM Chynar, TSUM Aichurek, Bishkek Park, Asia Mall, Ala-Archa, VEFA Center, Dom Torgovli, Goin, Beta Stores 1, and Besh Sary City.

On August 31 (cleaning day) and on September 1 and 2, Osh Bazar and Sary-Ozon markets and retail outlets will be closed; on August 31 and September 1, the Orto-Sai market will be closed.

Starting at 3:00 PM on August 29, pedestrian underpasses will be closed at the following locations:

Chyngyz Aitmatov Avenue and Maxim Gorky Street;

Chui Avenue and Manas Avenue (now Chyngyz Aitmatov Avenue);

Manas Street - Vasilievsky Trakt;

Chui Avenue and Yusup Abdrakhmanov Street (Old Bishkek).

The heads of four district administrations have been instructed to identify additional retail outlets located along official delegation routes and ensure their temporary closure.

Earlier, it was reported that the number of tourist arrivals rose to 5.3 million people in Kyrgyzstan in 2025.
