Aviation Security Int'l Training Centre opens in Kazakhstan
ASTANA. August 14. KAZINFORM - Aviation Academy in Almaty has been confirmed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as a training center for aviation security, which will be implementing national and regional training programs in the field of aviation security, the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications says.
Establishment of a training center is aimed at realization of "ISD-Security" ICAO Safety, as well as improving safety of air travel in the territory of Kazakhstan and other countries of the Central Asian region. This is the third training center in the former Soviet Union (after Kiev and Moscow), which provides training and retraining of specialists of aviation security in airports and air companies.
The institution will conduct short-term (5 days) and a two-week training program titled "Safety of cargo", "Crisis Management", and "National inspectors are involved in the exercise of supervisory functions in the field of aviation safety." As the course instructors have been invited certified lecturers of Kazakhstan and ICAO.
Teaching will be in classrooms with total area of 550 sq.m. Lecture halls are computerized and equipped with modern video and audio devices, and the necessary visual aids. It is expected that course participants will be more than 3,000 professionals from airports and airlines from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and other countries in the Central Asian region.
Official opening ceremony of the center with ICAO Regional Director for Europe and the North Atlantic Luis Fonseca de Almeida, wiil be held on September 3.
