Astana EXPO-2017 dossier to be recognized in Paris today

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Mr. Erlan Idrissov, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, is expected to participate in the procedure of official recognition of the Astana EXPO-2017 Registration dossier by the General Assembly of the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) in Paris today. Minister Idrissov is also set to meet with reps of the Organization for Economic Cooperation (OECD) and UNESCO while he is in the French capital, the Kazakh MFA's press service says.

In a meeting with French President's advisor Jacques Audibert, the head of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry noted that Kazakhstani-French dialogue in politics and economy is quite meaningful and effective. "Astana and Paris have reached a high level of political understanding based on the Treaty of strategic partnership signed back in 2008," Minister Idrissov said. Kazakhstani diplomat thanked Mr. Audibert for supporting Astana's bid to host the EXPO-2017 event that is to give a new impulse to further diversification and modernization of Kazakhstan's economy and its gradual transition to ‘green economy'. During the meeting with TotalUpstream President Ives Louis Darricarrere E. Idrissov noted high dynamics of Kazakhstani-French economic cooperation. He especially pointed out the role of the Kazakhstani-French Business Council and expressed hope this platform will allow to develop and diversify economic contacts between the two nations. Minister Idrissov also informed Mr. Darricarrere of measures taken by the Kazakh Government to improve investment climate in the country. "A new state program of industrial and innovative development that is to create even better conditions for foreign investors in Kazakhstan will be adopted in the nearest future," he added. E. Idrissov also urged French companies to participate in the preparations for and holding of the EXPO-2017 event in Astana.
