Series of quakes hit near Almaty

The Seismic Stations Network of the Ministry of Emergencies recorded a series of earthquakes which hit near Almaty, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The quakes occurred at 09:01 pm, 09:04 pm, and 10:20 pm on Wednesday, January 24, and at 00:45 am, 01:33 am, 01:59 am and 02:04 am on Thursday, January 25. 

The epicenters of the first two quakes were  256 kilometers and 268 kilometers southeast of Almaty, on the border of Kyrgyzstan and China.

The other quakes occured 289 kilometers, 261 kilometers, 262 kilometers, 273 kilometers, and 283 kilometers southeast of Almaty,  in the territory of China. 

The minimum MPV magnitude was 4.6 and the maximum MPV magnitude was 5.5.

No tremors were felt in the territory of Kazakhstan.
