Almaty will expand cooperation with Malaysia

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - Akim of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yesimov has received Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Malaysia in the Republic of Kazakhstan Dato Hidayat Abdul Hamid, the press office of the mayor reports.

The Akim expressed his condolences in connection with the events surrounding the missing aircraft of Malaysia Airlines. The sides discussed issues of cooperation between Almaty and Malaysia in various fields. Akim of the city said that the tourism industry is actively developing in the city. "Almaty is situated in a picturesque place, we have a unique nature. We intend to develop mountain tourism and create a modern, comfortable environment for sports. In 2017, Almaty will host the Winter Universiade. Also, our city is a candidate to hold the Olympics-2022. The winner will be selected in July 2015 in the capital of Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur", Akhmetzhan Yesimov said. In turn, the Ambassador of Malaysia expressed willingness to share Malaysian experiences with the metropolis. "Almaty is a very beautiful city. The number of visitors from Malaysia including tourists and businessmen is growing. We are interested in further expansion of cooperation with Kazakhstan and Almaty", said Dato Hidayat Abdul Hamid.
