Almaty to host International Singing Competition
ALMATY. December 5. KAZINFORM - Between 6 and 11 December 2013, Almaty hosts the International Singing Competition organized by the Committee on Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan and JSC "Fund for spiritual development of the people of Kazakhstan".
Its goal is promotion of friendship and cooperation between nations, popularization of vocal music in Kazakhstan, improvement of professional skills of talented vocalists, aesthetic and patriotic education of the younger generation, boosting the country's cultural image.
The jury includes Maira Mukhamedkyzy, Honored Actress of Kazakhstan (Chairperson), Mihai Muntean (Moldova), People's Artist of the USSR, State Prize laureate, holder of the "Order of the Republic", Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Shalabayev, lead singer of the Abai State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Talgar Jakshylykov, People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, singer of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A. Maldybaev and Nurlan Bekmukhambetov, Honored Artist of Tatarstan and singer of the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theater of Moscow.
38 singers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and Turkmenistan will take part in the competition, which will be held in three rounds in two categories: male and female voices. The prize fund is 17 000 USD.
Winners, who will take part in a gala concert, will be announced after the 3rd round.
