Almaty to host II International Ice Skulpture Festival
ALMATY. December 6. KAZINFORM - 7-12 January 2014, Almaty Park Resort "Eight Lakes" will host II Open International Ice Sculpture Festival, according to its organizing committee
The theme of ice sculptures is "World Architecture". Sculptors from Kazakhstan, the CIS and far abroad countries will take part in the festival. By date, applications for participation have been received from Kazakhstani sculptors and those from Kyrgyzstan, Russia, China, Japan, Korea, Belgium, Iran, Germany and Poland.
The aim of the festival is to contribute to art development in Kazakhstan, to improve the art of ice sculpture and create a festive winter atmosphere in the city.
Conditions for creative work and residence of sculptors meet international standards of arranging symposia, competitions and festivals. The jury will include well-known artists.
The park is located in an ecologically clean area. Its facilities include the largest beach club in the CIS and Central Asia, a chain of restaurants with excellent cuisine, a cascade of lakes for fishing and relaxation, a rink of 4 500 sq m, five-kilometer trail for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, etc.
