Almaty markets' owners to be prosecuted to the fullest extend of law for illegal acts: Mayor Yessimov
ALMATY. November 8. KAZINFORM The session on modernization of markets of Almaty city chaired by mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov took place on Friday. With akims of the districts, reps of the department and Prosecutor's Office, the city administration discussed the necessary of working together in order to modernize the market system in Almaty.
The main problem of the markets in Almaty is that their areas do not meet the construction requirements, fire safety regulations and sanitary and epidemiological norms.
According to head of the land relations department Kuanysh Kashkimbayev, currently 28 markets are located within the building line. Mayor Yessimov stressed that all the problems should be solved with the owners of the markets, in the first place, and it is landowners who should be punished, not the tradespeople.
"As for the areas of illicit trade and construction of new shopping centers that do not meet modern requirements, they should be closed down," Mr. Yessimov added.
