ASTANA. KAZINFORM - About 2 thousand Kazakhstanis serve their sentences in foreign penitentiaries, First Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Iogan Merkel told at the plenary session of the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan during the discussion of the draft law on ratification of the agreement on extradition of citizens with Hungary.
"As of January 1, about 2 thousand citizens of Kazakhstan serve sentences in foreign countries. 1995 people to be more exact," I. Merkel said.
According to him, 25 citizens of Kazakhstan and one mental patient sentenced abroad have been returned to the country.
