80 villages disappeared in Kazakhstan in two years – deputy
The lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament is discussing today the issue of development of rural areas, including nearborder settlements, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Majilisman Zhiguli Dairabayev called the participants of the roundtable meeting to focus on decrease of the rural areas’ population.
“Today, there are 6,208 villages in Kazakhstan, while in 2023 their number was 6,286. A total of 80 villages have disappeared in two years," he said.
The deputy reminded of the President's task to ensure all-round development of rural areas, set at the recent extended meeting of the Government.
"This issue should be discussed and certain decisions should be taken on the development of villages, including near-border ones,” he stressed.
Earlier, it was reported that urban population of Kazakhstan increased by 266,800.
