It is aimed at drawing attention to quantum research that could have a significant impact on the future of humanity.

The project focuses on raising awareness, educational programs, and international collaboration, ensuring access to knowledge and research in the quantum field. UNESCO, along with international scientific institutions, universities, and technology companies, will work together to stimulate the development of quantum technologies.

Throughout the year, a range of events will take place, including scientific conferences, roundtable discussions, student competitions, and numerous educational initiatives for a wide audience.

International organizations, governments, and scientific communities will actively cooperate to accelerate research and the implementation of quantum technologies across various sectors, including medicine, industry, energy, and communications.

"Quantum science and technology are vital for economic advancement, and its potential applications could address basic needs such as food, health, sustainable cities and communities, communications, clean water and energy, and support climate action," states the UN resolution.

In addition, 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the discovery of quantum mechanics, which holds a prominent place in today's science and technology.

Earlier, Kazinform News Agency reported that UNESCO and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) announced the official launch of the International Year of Glaciers' Preservation.
