2013 was successful for Almaty - mayor Yessimov

Almaty. December 31. KAZINFORM - Almaty mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov traditionally congratulates his fellow residents on the coming New Year and tallies up the departing year's events.

The mayor said the year 2013 was successful for the country's southern capital because the better part of the plans and tasks had been performed. The city residents are appreciative of the results of the public transportation improvement campaign that has started this year, this work will continue next year.
"With each passing year, our city has been hosting the growing number of big political, economic, cultural and sports events. Soon, Almaty is to host the 2017 World Universiade and is ready to bid for hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics. All this is evidence to the country's involvement in international processes and the boosting role in them. Our President said that "in the world politics our country is a reliable and responsible partner enjoying solid authority", - the mayor said.
He wished Almaty dwellers and all Kazakhstanis good health in the coming year, unflagging energy, peace and well-being.
