Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay claims gold at World Boxing Cup in China
Three-time world champion Nazym Kyzaibay captured gold at the second stage of the World Boxing Cup in China after defeating Italy’s Sirine Charaabi in the women’s 54kg final, Qazinform News Agency reports.
The Kazakh boxer secured a 4-1 victory over Charaabi to clinch the gold medal, while the Italian boxer settled for silver.
At 32, Kyzaibay remains the most decorated female boxer in Kazakhstan’s history. She has won five medals at the World Championships, including three golds, and also claimed bronze at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. No other Kazakh boxer has captured three world titles.
Kyzaibay had earlier delivered a dominant performance against another Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist, South Korea’s Im Ae-ji, in the opening round.
Charaabi, meanwhile, entered the final with an impressive résumé of her own, having won silver at the 2023 World Championships and bronze in 2025.
