ZHUBAN ANA MAUSOLEUM

BAN ANA MAUSOLEUM is an architectural monument built in XI century in Zhanaarka district, Karaganda region in 2 km to Mynadyr station at the right bank of Sarysu river.

The Mausoleum is mentioned for the first time in 1762 by P. Rychkov in his "Orenburg's Topography".  Sh. Ualikhanov  also informed that Zhuban Mausoleum was reputed by the Kazakh people as saint tomb (auliye). S. Bronevsky, A. Levshin. A. Krassovsky, I. Kastaniye mentioned about the Mausoleum at different times. A. Margulan discovered that Zhuban Mausoleum is a mediaeval construction built by Kypchaks.

The construction is single-barrel, domed-centric with internal hemispheric and external hip roof cupolas. The monument is built from brick (27x27x6 cm) and is covered with a double-shell dome. The size of the building is 6x6 m on external perimeter, 4x4 m on internal perimeter and the height is 6 sm. The dome and biraban were built from burnt square bricks. The burnt brick was firstly used inside of the construction from the level of five arch spandrels.

Zhuban Ana Mausoleum was included in the list of the state historical monuments.
