Paired with Ankita Raina (ranked 287th) of India, world No. 339 Zhibek Kulambayeva of Kazakhstan currently competes at the ITF United Arab Emirates 01A doubles event in Dubai, Kazinform News Agency cites Olympic.kz.
The Kazakh-Indian duo defeated Arianne Hartono of the Netherlands and Prarthana Thombare of India with a score of 6:3, 5:7, 10:7 in the women’s doubles 1/8 finals.
Kulambayeva and Raina need to stun Jodie Burrage and Freya Christie of the UK to propel to the semifinals.
Earlier, Kazakh Zhibek Kulambayeva won the ITF W35 Lousada doubles title in Portugal.
