World respects Kazakhstan for its peace and harmony: N.Nazarbayev

ALMATY. February 7. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ "This year is a special year, the year of the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence. For our people it was an important period equal to a century", President N.Nazarbayev has said today at a meeting with workers of culture in Almaty.

The Head of State noted that the country moved from one epoch into another. "We became a sample of stability, friendship, brotherhood of people living together. We strengthen the value of good relations, friendship, equality for everyone. All our achievements were possible due to stability and peace in the country", the President said.

N.Nazarbayev emphasized that the unemployment level was reduced from 7% to 5% even in the period of crisis. "Kazakhstan made its economy meet people's needs. As you know, pensions were increased by 30% from January 1, public sector wages are planned to be increased by 30% from July 1", the President said.

"The world respects Kazakhstan for its peace and harmony. In this regard, Kazakhstan managed to attract USD 120 mln of foreign investments", N.Nazarbayev added.
