World Mining Congress to be held in Astana in 2018

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov announced the news at the V Anniversary International Congress "Astana Mining & Metallurgy" (AMM 2014) in the capital on Friday. "In 2018, Astana will host the 25th World Mining Congress. Kazakhstan will exert every effort to ensure the event is held at a high level," the Premier elaborated. Mr. Massimov also told participants of the congress about the development of national mining complex. In his words, mining and smelting complex is one of the key sectors of Kazakhstan's economy with nearly 300,000 employees countrywide. "50 new industrial enterprises have been set up as part of the ambitious State Program of Forced Industrial-Innovative Development. 7 new projects are set to be launched next year within the framework of the program," he added.
