ALMATY. April 2. KAZINFORM /Yelena Ilyinskaya/ Today, on birthday of the famous story-teller Hans Christian Andersen, the entire world marks the International Children's Book Day.
The event has been marked since 1967 on the initiative of the International Board on Books for Young People, IBBY.
Every year one of the National Sections of the IBBY is honored to sponsor this wonderful holiday. It defines a theme of the holiday and invites a prominent author from the host country to write a message to the children of the world. A well-known illustrator is also invited to design a poster of the International Children's Book Day.
These materials are used then for popularizing the books and inspiring a love of reading.
