World Bank and Customs Control Committee debated project of modernization

ASTANA. June 21. KAZINFORM - Chairman of the Customs Control Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan Mazhit Yessenbayev had a meeting with the head of the World Bank Mr. Khwaja Munaver. In the period from 17 to 22 June 2013 a group of experts from the World Bank are on a working visit to Astana, informs the press service of the Committee.

The working meeting of the World Bank was also attended by an expert on customs Gerard Mc Linden and an expert on information technology Vayatt Grant.

The parties considered the key points of the Customs Modernization of Kazakhstan. The project covers all areas of the customs service, and includes an analysis of its compliance with international standards, development and introduction of new methods and technologies in accordance with international best practices, modernization and working out information systems, technical equipment, and training of customs officials.

In an interview the chairman of CCC stated that automation and introduction of modern information technology was one of the key directions of customs authorities. In an effort to improve tax and customs administration and institutional development there is actualization of recommendations of the World Bank experts.

The head of the World Bank notes the positive dynamics of development of promising directions based on introduction of integrated approach to modernization of the Kazakh customs service.

The sides note the importance of the project to streamline the Customs Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan and expressed the unanimous opinion that its realization will ensure transparency and speeding up customs procedures, as well as enhace quality of services provided by the customs authorities.
