The aim of the workshop, entitled "Introduction to Research Methods in the Era of the Internet," is to encourage scientific networking and give a boon to academic productivity in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.  Some of the topics covered in the course include research methods, introduction to epidemiology, basic biostatistics, and how to publish one's own work, the press service of the US Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan said.

The project also launched a new academic journal, the Central Asian Journal of Global Health, that will accept articles from Central Asian-based professors, academics, graduate-students, and other health-related professionals.  The project aims to encourage Kazakhstan to realize its full scientific potential by engaging all stakeholders including young and promising researchers, scientists, and doctoral students from Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries.
