Workshop on issues of Kazakhstan's participation in Customs Union held in Astana

ASTANA. April 2. KAZINFORM /Rassul Bakhamov/ A workshop on the issues of Kazakhstan's accession to the Customs Union with participation of representatives of the Kazakh business has been held in Astana today.

As First Deputy Prime Minister Umirzak Shukeyev said at the opening ceremony, the establishment of the Customs Union became an important event of 2010. But today there exist information gap and the necessity of mutual consultations between business and state bodies arose.

He noted that the economic effect of functioning of the Customs Union depends on the reaction of business community and defining of right strategy of use of new opportunities provided by the establishment of the Union.

Representatives of the Kazakh business defined a range of issues of interest, connected with the customs administration and expressed suggestions on modernization of the customs legislation at the workshop.

Representatives of the state bodies participated in negotiations on formation of the legislative framework of the Customs Union, deputy corps, domestic business and such sectors of the economy as engineering, food industry, agricultural producers and heads of associations took part in the workshop. Russian delegation headed by Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Khristenko took part in the workshop as well.
