Women are one-third among candidates for Akim positions in Karaganda rgn

KARAGANDA. August 5. KAZINFORM — In Karaganda region among 601 candidates for the position of local governors one-third are women, according to the regional election commission.
"In Karaganda region the election of Akims in district towns, rural districts and villages will be held on August 8 at 16 regional sites. At present, there are 601 candidates. There are 31% of women among the candidates", said Natalia Batalova, the secretary of the regional election committee.
According to the Rules, candidates for Akim positions must have Kazakhstan's citizenship, be at the age of 25 years, have higher education and live in the territory of the region.
Local Akims are elected for a term of 4 years.
