Woman earns award after saving child from drowning
As it was previously reported by Kazinform, a nine-month pregnant woman, aged 22, risked her life to save an eight-year-old boy drowning in the Irtysh River in Pavlodar. The young woman saw the boy had fallen through the ice. She immediately ran to rescue him and also fell through the ice. She was too brave and strong enough to get out of the icy water and pull the boy out of the river. Later they both were rushed to hospital to be treated with hypothermia. Fortunately, the young mother-to-be and her unborn daughter felt good. "I believe anyone would have done it, and anyone would have made the same choice as I did," the young woman said. After the ceremony the young woman was congratulated and warmly thanked by the leaders and residents of the town of Aksu.
