'West Europe-West China' road construction revives the Silk Road - Nursultan Nazarbayev
The event brought together ten heads of states, heads of governments, international organizations' leaders, representatives of business, scientific and public circles of foreign countries. Total participation in the event, which is one of the largest communication platforms of the world, is about 1,800 delegates, while the total number of participants exceeded three thousand.
In his speech, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the increasing relevance of the Forum was enhanced by the special value, which the Asian continent has acquired today.
"First, production potential had been focused here. Then the center of economic activity, which sets the tone for the world markets, has been moved there. I am convinced that the next step will be the establishment of Asia as a key source of ideas and models of development. It will form the international agenda, not only in economics but also in many other areas. Building trust among Asian countries is the key to meaningful progress in addressing global challenges, " the Kazakh President said.
The President noted that the country was open to investment in the downstream processing of oil and gas resources, fertilizer production, logistics, and other industries.
"The modern transport infrastructure is being created. Creating the main transport corridor called "Western Europe - Western China" we are reviving the "Silk Road". It will be launched in 2015. The capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, has been chosen the venue of the "EXPO-2017" International Expo under the theme "Energy for the future." A new policy "Kazakhstan-2050" has been initiated. This long-term strategy aims at innovative economic and social principles at the heart of the state and society. We intend to cooperate with all countries," the President of Kazakhstan noted.
Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the sixth Astana Economic Forum would be held in Astana in a month. The World Anti-Crisis Conference under the support of the UN will also take place there.
"I am confident that the results of the twelfth session of the Boao Forum will help to decision-making in this conference. They will form the basis for long-term solutions for the security, stability and prosperity of our region and the world," the President said.
