Weightlifting championship in Kazakhstan hit by doping scandal

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kyrgyz-born weightlifter Zhanyl Okoyeva has been stripped of her gold medal at Kazakhstan's Open Weightlifting Championship after refusing to take a dope test, Kazinform has learnt from the press service of the Kazakh Weightlifting Federation.
"The winner of the first day in women's 48kg category skipped the dope test and, as a result, was stripped of her medal, diploma and prize money to the amount of 250,000 tenge. Athletes who finished second, third and fourth took home the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively," the statement reads. Galina Momotova collected gold, Marina Kokoshko - silver and Guldariya Satken - bronze. The Open Weightlifting Championship was held on April 19 - 23 in the city of Taldykorgan.
