WEEKLY REVIEW: Industrial projects successfully implemented in Kazakhstan
On Monday, August 1, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov met with US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman.
The sides discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations, efforts on strengthening regional security and countering drug trafficking and terrorist threats.
Next day, August 2, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Umirzak Shukeyev held a telephone conference with regional akims, Astana and Almaty Mayors to discuss issues regarding implementation of sectoral programs in the housing construction, housing and utilities modernization and water supply spheres. Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh Agency on Construction, Housing and Utilities Nikolai Tikhonyuk reported on the results of implementation of the Housing Construction Program for the first half of 2011. KZT 171.4 bln was invested in the housing construction in the first half of the year. Private enterprises put into service 2.4 mln sq m of housing. 1.5 mln sq m out of it was constructed at the expense of the population. KZT 10 bln was allocated for the construction of leasehold housing in form of target transfers. Over KZT 359 bln is planned to be allocated from the national budget for the Program implementation in 2011-2014. At the end of the session U.Shukeyev gave specific instructions to authorized bodies.
On Wednesday, August 3, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov has got acquainted with the work of the Operations Control Center of the Customs Control Committee of the Kazakh Finance Ministry under the conditions of the Customs Union functioning. Besides, he familiarized with control over the customs procedures at the external border checkpoints of the Customs Union. Karim Massimov also held a visiting meeting in the Customs Control Committee of the Finance Ministry of Kazakhstan. Chairman of the Committee Serik Baimaganbetov reported the results of the customs agencies' work for 7 months of 2011. The issues regarding implementation of the Project of customs service development for 2008-2012, interaction between the customs authorities of the Customs Union member states and the progress in implementation of the Electronic Declaration Program were addressed at the meeting as well.
Later in the day CEO of JSC "National Innovation Fund" Anuarbek Sultangazin informed that 80 applications for participation in technology business incubation program were received this year. The program is implemented by the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. It is called on to provide assistance to initiators of the innovation projects and assist in the promotion at the market. KZT 306 mln was allocated for the program implementation this year. 40 selected projects are expected to be financed.
On Thursday, August 4, First Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies Albert Rau visited South Kazakhstan region to survey facilities that were included into the Industrialization Map. He visited LLP "Zero Max KZ', LLP "Ak Ordasy Building", LLP "Ak Ordasy Corporation". These enterprises implement industrial projects in the territory of Asar micro district of Shymkent city. Later A.Rau visited "Ontustik" Special Economic Zone. Two investment projects are under implementation there.
A.Rau complimented the project of LLP "Ontustik Kurylys Service" on modernization of integrated house-building factory and concrete works. He said that he visited all these facilities in order to make a decision regarding their support at the Republican Coordination Council's session.
On Friday, August 5, Minister of Education Bakytzhan Zhumagulov surveyed education facilities in Astana. He met with heads and personnel of a number of Astana schools, lyceums and pre-school education institutions. The Minister also inspected the Palace of School Students and familiarized with the project concept. Another facility that the Minister surveyed was "Asemai" kindergarten. The 240 seats kindergarten is built within "Balapan" program and will be put into service in September this year.
B.Zhumagulov also surveyed the preparedness of international boarding schools "Hailebury Astana". The boarding school is ready to educate 320 students in the first academic year. New school #6 will be opened in Astana this year as well. The 1200 seats school is equipped with electronic security system, 3D-laboratiry class room, three computer classes, library and sport facilities.
B.Zhumagulov also visited a number of functioning education institutions including the vocational and technical school #6.
On Friday, the Government held a session attended by regional Governors, Astana and Almaty Mayors and chaired by President N.Nazarbayev.
Prime Minister Karim Massimov, Head of the Presidential Administration Aslan Musin took part in the session. The President noted that the food prices had increased in all regions of the country since the beginning of the year. He emphasized that the Government and Governors should address this issue systemically. N.Nazarbayev also charged to work on agricultural production increase and reminded of the necessity to prepare to the heating season.
Besides, the President gave instructions on holding the final stage of celebration of the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence.
